Lauren - Independent Study Reflection

In the Independent Study module, my investigation into the Manchester accent and the attitudes towards it was successful as interesting results were found. Particular strong points of mine include transcribing, in order to highlight specific features of the Manchester accent and also I was able to compose a list of findings using results from answers to a questionnaire. During this module, I developed useful skills such as learning what a literature review is and how to write one. I also developed the ability to include findings from readings into my investigation in order to provide back-up for my own results. These skills will be particularly beneficial to me in the coming year because they will provide me with the ability to improve my investigations in the future because I am now able to use methods such as quesitonnaires and transcriptions. I would like to improve on the extent of my reading because by reading more on the subject at hand, my own results will hopefully become more valid.
